Accreditation helps provide assurance of high quality. It helps students and parents make a more informed decision about a school. It also helps a school demonstrate to the world that they operate as a high quality institution. Our accreditation began in 2010.
FORMER ACCREDITATION – 2010-2015 -- the College of Teachers
The British College of Teachers
accredited us from 2010 to 2015. The College of Teachers is a Royal Chartered association recognized by the Crown of the United Kingdom as a significant organization. They based their evaluations on the qualifications required by the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and the Framework for Higher Education (NFHE). The College was and is the UK’s prime professional organization for educators. In 2015, they made a major change in their organization from an academic accrediting association to primarily a teaching association. At this point, we sought and obtained accreditation through the Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities (ASIC)
ACCREDITATION -- 2015-2017 -- ASIC
Because of our excellent program and academics, we were recognized by this highly respected and government approved organization as worthy of full accreditation.
ASIC [Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities] is an independent, government approved accreditation body specialising in the accreditation of schools, colleges, universities, training organisations and online and distance education providers, both in the UK and overseas.

ASIC goals are:
(1) To protect students and stakeholders from unethical institutions who make false or misleading claims about their curriculum, their teaching methods, and other matters.
(2) To defend the reputations of genuine institutions, their staff and representatives, allowing them to show that they can offer high quality education, and ensuring that their good names are not tarnished by the actions of a minority of disreputable establishments.
(3) To ensure that staff act professionally at all times, that institutions promote and market themselves in a truthful and ethical way, and that they continue to take responsibility for the welfare and education of their international students. (Ibid.)
ASIC is one of a number of international accrediting bodies listed in the international directory by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in the USA and is a member of the CHEA International Quality Group (CIQG). ASIC is an approved accrediting body in compliance by the UK Border Agency (UKBA). ASIC Accreditation provides reassurance to the UK Border and Immigration Agency that the college meets their strict requirements for overseas students. It has ". . . has accredited many overseas institutions and have undertaken accreditations in countries across the globe in Asia, America, Australia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and beyond. Amongst others, ASIC is recognised by UKVI in the UK as an approved accrediting body . . . and are members of the British Quality Foundation." (Ibid.)
CURRENT ACCREDITATION SITUATION
In 2017, we officially changed the name of the College to Heritage International University, added a doctoral program, moved from Mississippi to the State of California and are now under new leadership. Hence, we were required to re-apply to ASIC, which we did in 2018. We have proved ourselves worthy. Since our high quality program has never changed, but been improved, it was only be a matter of time before we were recognized for what we are.
We received the following on 12/12/2018 from the Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities (ASIC):

Following their inspection of documents and helpful meeting with yourselves, [name redacted] and [name redacted] have expressed satisfaction with the rigour of HIU’s programmes, the student admission system, and the assessment procedures.
In 2019, "interim accreditation
" was received, which is an accredited status. It is a great honor to be recognized as having the quality, standard and expertise of a full fleged university. We also became "Fully-Accredited Member[s] of the International Association for Distance Learning.
" In other words, we have two outside evaluations of our system of producing an educational experience that is at least equal to if not superior to traditional on-campus colleges or universities.
